This week the President announced that the administration would be delaying the release of their review on deportation policy due to concerns that it would interfere with immigration reform in the House.  Congressman Smith released the following statement after the announcement:

"I oppose the delay of DHS’s deportation review because families are suffering now and inaction in Congress is ripping families apart while they continue to wait for relief.  While relief is welcomed, the only real solution is passing comprehensive Immigration reform with a path to citizenship.  Eleven months have passed since the Senate approved a comprehensive immigration reform bill and it is beyond time for the House to act.  I am a original cosponsor of the CIR in the House and urge its passage now."
