Join Congressman Adam Smith for a Town Hall Meeting

 

Congressman Adam Smith is looking forward to meeting with constituents to hear their concerns, answer questions, and discuss issues facing Congress.

When: Sunday, July 8th from 11:00am-12:00pm

Where: Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, WA 98040

Directions:

I-90 Eastbound from Seattle:

Take exit #7A, 77th Ave SE. Turn left at top of off-ramp. At stop sign turn right onto North Mercer Way.

Go straight through stop light. Turn left onto 81st Ave SE. At stop sign turn right onto SE 24th St. The Community & Event Center is two blocks up on your left. 

 

I-90 Westbound from Bellevue:

Take exit # 7, Island Crest Way. Continue straight ahead off of off ramp, through light onto N. Mercer

Way. Turn right on 81st Ave SE. At stop sign turn right onto SE 24th St. The Community & Event Center is two blocks up on your left. 

 

Transit: Metro buses 550 and 554 will all take you within 0.5 miles of Mercer Island Community and Event Center. You can call METRO (206-553-3000) or check the METRO website’s Trip Planner for bus route schedules and times.

You are invited to join other interested Minority, Women and Veteran small business owners for an afternoon event to learn about government contracting opportunities and to learn about various resources to small businesses.

Parking/Transit:

From the South on Interstate 5

Traveling northbound on I-5, take the S. 188th St. exit (#152) and stay in the two left turn lanes. At the light, turn left onto S. 188th Street. Heading west on S. 188th St., go through the lighted intersection of S. 188th St. and Military Road S. Stay in the right lane. You can access the building directly from S. 188th.

Note: there is also access from Military Road S.

From the North on Interstate 5

Traveling southbound on I-5, take the S. 188th St./Orillia Road exit (#152). Stay to the left and follow the sign that reads Orillia Road (do not go to the right to S. 188th St., the off-ramp will take you past the access to the building). At the bottom of the exit, turn right. Heading west on S. 188th St., go through the lighted intersection of S. 188th St. and Military Road S. Stay in the right lane. You can access the building directly from S. 188th.

Note: there is also access from Military Road S.

Free participant parking: Valley Ridge Park adjacent to City Hall in Lot 14.

U.S. Service Academy Night

Have you considered kickstarting your education and career by applying to a U.S. service academy? Benefits can include earning your degree with free tuition, room and board, books and medical and dental expenses, all while earning a prestigious education and the opportunity to become a military officer. However, the competition for entry is steep and those interested should plan ahead!

By attending Academy Night, you will learn how to obtain a Congressional Nomination to one of the U.S. Service Academies.

You can also meet and ask questions to representatives from:

U.S. Military Academy at West Point

U.S. Air Force Academy

U.S. Naval Academy

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

This informational event is recommended for interested high school and middle school-aged students that reside in Washington’s 9th Congressional District.
