"Israel should implement a ceasefire in Gaza and massively increase the flow of humanitarian aid. They must also stop the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and take serious steps to reduce the violence there. I urge President Trump to directly appeal to Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government to take these steps. If Israel does not take these steps, I believe it is time for the United States government to stop the sale of some offensive weapons systems to Israel as leverage to pressure Israel into taking these actions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.) today announced the reintroduction of the Expanding Service Coordinators Act alongside Representatives Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.). The legislation would increase funding and make reforms to service coordinator programs, expanding the national workforce that connects residents of federally assisted housing with health care, nutrition, transportation, job training, education, and other critical services.

Today’s town hall was intentionally disrupted to attempt to silence a democratic conversation between a Representative and his constituents. This behavior is unacceptable. One of my staff members was physically assaulted during the chaos – an act that crosses every line of civil discourse.

Peaceful protest is protected in our democracy. Violence and coordinated efforts to shut down public dialogue are not. My team and I remain committed to open, respectful engagement with the people of the Ninth District.

SEATAC, WASH. – Yesterday, Congressman Adam Smith (D-Wash.) convened a roundtable discussion with economic development leaders from across South King County to discuss shared challenges and opportunities to spur job growth and infrastructure investment in the region. 

Attendees included representatives from the Cities of Seattle, Renton, Kent, Tukwila, Federal Way, Auburn, and Bellevue, and the Port of Seattle. The discussion focused on barriers to economic growth including housing affordability, workforce needs, and federal funding gaps.
