Smith Honored For Work on Animal Welfare
March 8, 2012
The honor comes, in part, from Rep. Smith's support of legislation such as the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, and for the removal an amendment to H.R. 2584 to that would limit U.S. Fish and Wildlife's ability to list species as threatened or endangered. "I am honored to be recognized by the Humane Society of the United States as a Legislative Leader" said Congressman Smith. "I have been a longtime supporter of animal welfare legislation and I believe it is important to ensure that we prevent abuse and neglect." The Humane Society of the United States represents 20,816 supporters in Washington's 9th Congressional District and 11 million supporters Nationwide.
