WASHINGTON – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash) released the following statement on the stalled labor negotiations between Boeing and union workers that has resulted in a strike:

Today, more than 33,000 union workers, mostly in Washington, brought Boeing airplane production to a halt with a strike.

I strongly urge the parties to return to the negotiating table and participate in good faith discussions that result in a strong agreement.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Adam Smith (WA-09) and Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) are calling on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to phase out the use of private, for-profit detention centers for immigrants in U.S. custody and consider alternatives to expanding the immigration detention system.
